INTJ vs. INTP
Most of the personality tests I’ve taken have turned up INTJ, save for one given to me by a college counselor. But I was reading up on INTP personality types, and I have to wonder …
It actually sounds more accurate. And not because the descriptions of this type present a more laudable version of me; not all of it’s that flattering, but it seems to fit me better.
1 - I like to “keep my options open”. I can get the job done in a timely manner — I am actually pretty adept at time management— but miscellaneous and tedious tasks I tend to put off. Especially if it involves making a phone call.
2 - I am goofy. INTJs not so much, but INTPs? Apparently, yes.
3 - I am not as certain about my ideas as typical INTJs. It would appear that I have the INTP quality of constantly second-guessing myself.
4 - Social skills: I am more adept at socializing than most INTJs. My favorite phrase about people is that “I get it, I do … but I just don’t get it”. Whilst social norms and emotions really aren’t my thing, I do understand people and the “necessity” of certain social rituals, and am willing to make concessions towards such where INTJs don’t generally bother/understand/whathaveyou.
5 - Whereas INTJ personalities seek to gain knowledge in order to put it to practical application, I seek knowledge simply for knowledge itself, without necessarily giving it practical use. In other words, I am proud of the fact that I am a warehouse of useless informaiton.
Conclusion: INTP it is.
